Coming home in April - Long Preston Station model

Event details

Date and time: Sat 02 Apr 2011 (10:00)
Location: Long Preston Village Hall
Additional notes: The model will be unveiled on Friday evening at 7.00pm and there will be a coffee morning on Saturday starting at 10.00am.

Last year the Heritage Group staged a Railway History Exhibition which featured the large scale model of Long Preston Station and sidings. The owner of the model is now dismantling it to start on a new model of Lancaster Station, and has kindly offered to donate to the village the central part of the Long Preston model, depicting the station.
It has been agreed with the Village Hall Committee that this will be permanently installed
in a slice of the cupboard in the Village Hall, and we are currently modifying
 the cupboard to accommodate it.

A grand unveiling party is being held on the Friday evening at 7pm,
and a coffee Morning on the Saturday, 10 am onwards.

All are welcome to come and see the model and photographs of the station and hear recordings of some of the railway personnel.
Bring your memories of this once busy and important country station.
Free admission.
Refreshments will be available.
Donations will be accepted for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
