Settle Station Open Day

Event details

Date and time: Sat 10 Dec 2011 (10:00)
Location: Settle Station
Additional notes:

The Friends of the Settle Carlisle Line will be hosting their annual Christmas Open Day at Settle railway station from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday 10 December.

There is always a very special atmosphere at the Settle Open Day. As well as both waiting rooms being colourfully decorated, there will be sherry, wine, soft drinks and mince pies to create a cosy welcome. Settle Voices will be there for a singalong of favourite carols, and the Friends have high hopes that the Opera North Horn Club will make their usual popular appearance.
The station shop will be open selling Christmas cards, calendars and many gift ideas. Tea, coffee etc. will be available from the Settle-Carlisle Railway Development Company's trolley on the platform or in the foyer, depending on the weather. The preserved signal box will be open to visitors too.

An additional attraction will be the launch of an updated reprint of the Map and Information Guide to the Settle Carlisle Line, first published in 1976, before the Line was saved from closure. It comprises a Map of the Line, a Gradient Profile, Distance tables between stations and other features together with updated historic information. Be one of the first to buy one of these pieces of history, it makes an ideal Christmas gift for any railfan.
