Primary / Secondary References

Plate 78 shows the southern approaches to Garsdale station ["before 1909"] and Hawes Junction South Signal Box is clearly visible in this B&W photograph. The 'down' main starter is also clearly visible. The text accompanying the photograph states that Hawes Junction South Signal Box was ["erected in 1892"] and ["superseded in 1909"]. (Hawes Junction South and Hawes Junction North were replaced by Hawes Junction - later renamed Garsdale - Signal Box - see Structure 256700 and the text accompanying Plate 79 states that the latter ["was brought into use on 10th July 1910"], so one of the dates quoted by Anderson & Fox must be incorrect.

Structure Location Map

Tips: This structure is located approximnately at the centre of the map below at the pointed end of the red marker. To adjust the scale of the map, either click on the [+] and [-] buttons (if Google has displayed these in the top-left corner of the map) or double-click your mouse buttons anywhere in the map area: left button = [+] = zoom-in, right button = [-] = zoom out). To 'pan' (move) the map, hold-down the left mouse button, then move the mouse. To open an information bubble containing brief details of the structure, left-click on the red marker. Please note that the position of the marker is approximate because Google keeps moving the map (yes, really!).
