FoSCL are supporting the Northern Dalesman bus link every Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday until October 19th 2014. The bus connects with 0900 Sunday train from Leeds (0850 on Bank Holiday Mondays) at Ribblehead Station and goes to Snaizeholme Lane End (for the Red Squirrel Trail); Hawes; Buttertubs Pass; Keld (mornings only); Muker; Gunnerside; Reeth (for Arkengarthdale) and Richmond.

It opens up fantastic walks including sections of the Pennine Way and Coast to Coast Walk; the lead mining relics above Gunnerside; Fremington Edge ; the flower rich meadows around Muker and stunning walks by the River Swale. Use it to walk over Great Shunner Fell or via Nine Standards to Kirkby Stephen or explore the Georgian town of Richmond with its fascinating museums and nearby Easby Abbey.

Return buses from Richmond connect with the 1825 train from Ribblehead on Sundays or the 1742 on Bank Holiday Mondays. There is also an earlier return bus at 1525 from Hawes to Settle to connect with the 1646 train to Leeds. Train users can buy a special discount £6 return fare and bus pass holders travel free.

Full details at www.dalesbus.org where you can also find details of weekend connecting buses to Dent and Sedbergh; Sunday connecting buses from Settle to Malham Tarn and Village;  daily connecting buses from Garsdale Station to Hawes and from Skipton Station to Grassington and Buckden.
