25th Anniversary

Many of the stations which had been closed by BR in the 1970s were reopened to passengers on 14th July 1986.

Ruth Evans writes: "FoSCL are looking for any photographs that were taken on the 14th July 1986 of the DMU that was the first stopping train at all the stations on the Settle-Carlisle Line.   The train run from Skipton to Carlisle and return.  Bunting was up at all the stations and a carnival atmosphere greeted the train at Carlisle.

FoSCL are hoping to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of this train and photos are needed for the postcards and royal posters and other publicity for this event.    Please contact Ruth Evans on 01729 825454 or email [email protected]"
