The abandoned village of Thorns
Theatre production on navvy family life during the viaduct build.
By a group request we have an extra full days event planned starting with a moderate 6m walk to the abandoned village of Thorns taking a route over the shanty site and return by the viaduct. This is a heritage walk looking at the landscape and the history of droving and the remaining structures at Thorns, a way of life radically changed by the impact of the railway. For those who enjoy the scenery from the cafe and platform you can enjoy coffee and cakes before the theatre production in the visitor centre.with its exhibits and unique giftware.
Itinerary

Meet at 10.45 in the station yard at Ribblehead.
The cafe and visitor centre will be open from about 10,00 to 15.30

2.00 To complete the story of the day we have our theatre production performed by Settle Graveyard project

Please bring your packed lunch . The weather is unpredictable and you will need walk wear and waterproofs We cannot take dogs on our walks but they are welcome in the visitor centre. Ribblehead weather is always unpredictable and can lead to late changes which will be posted in our Facebook page but we can guarantee a good welcome.
