Ribblehead Footsteps in Time: our next event is Limestone Botany on Wednesday 30th of July.
We explore the botany of the Ribblehead quarry with its stunning lily pond . Onto Gauber pasture taking in the Viking Long House and landscape features. All shadowed by Ingleborough with a view of the viaduct as it gently curves to meet Blea moor tunnel.
The day starts at 11.00 with an introduction followed by a display of photographs and artwork from our volunteer and artist Selina Thorp who’s inspired by the landscape and botanicals here. She will explain her work before joining us for our walk leaving the station yard at 12.30pm. Exhibits and displays can be enjoyed throughout the day. The Visitor Centre café will be open by10.00am until 3.30pm
Ribblehead can be reached direct from Carlisle and Leeds. Details for participating are in our leaflet available from stations along the line and on our website. In the rare event of severe weather we put your safety which may mean altering the schedule.
Special thanks to the team and Pete Shaw for their work in preparing this new season event. .
