Tickets for Tornado selling fast

February 14th, 15th and 16th on the Settle Carlisle railway.

Twelve Northern services will be steam-hauled, seven-carriage trains. They will pass over the ‘roof of England’ behind Britain’s newest steam locomotive, Tornado. The world-famous line carves its way through the spectacular scenery of Cumbria’s Eden Valley, the Yorkshire Dales and crosses the majestic Ribblehead viaduct.

This unique operation is thought to be the first time in 50 years that steam has been used to haul scheduled passenger trains in England. The project, I♥S&C,  is a celebration of the line’s forthcoming official re-opening on 31st March 2017.  It has been closed for repairs between Armathwaite and Carlisle since February 2016.

The steam trains will form part of the revised timetabled service and tickets will be available from the usual retail channels.  For the best price, and to book a seat, visit www.northernrailway.co.uk and book tickets online in the normal way, or go to any railway booking office. The usual ticket prices will apply and passengers will be able to use railcards such as the Dales Railcard, Senior and other national railcards to obtain a discount. The S&C Day Ranger is also available when purchased at booking offices.

Demand has been extremely high. Only those with a seat reservation will be assured of a seat.  Seat reservations may not be available for your preferred day/time. Tickets without seat reservations do not guarantee travel on the train.  No standing permitted on these services.
