Northern stakeholders day at Settle

Sunday 22 May saw a group of Northern stakeholders descend on Settle for a very informative day out.  Stakeholder days are organised by Northern as a way of saying thank you to various groups and individuals who make a real difference to the railway and the communities they live in.  FoSCL volunteers led a number of activities including a town trail round Settle, an opportunity to visit the Museum of North Craven Life and a tour of the Settle water tower which is currently being converted into a house by ex FoSCL chairman Mark Rand and his wife Pat.  The visitors were addressed by Richard Allan, Northern Rail's Assistant Area Director who thanked the volunteers for all the work they do.  Refreshments were provided by the Settle Carlisle Development Company and a number of FoSCL volunteers including guided walk leaders assisted throughout the day.  The event had been organised by Drew Haley, Northern Rail's Client & Stakeholders Manager in conjunction with Ruth Evans, FoSCL Volunteer Co-ordinator.  The day's events were recorded in the form of a series of photo stories by Mark Harvey - one of the FoSCL Guided Walk Leaders.  A fuller account of the day will be published in the next FoSCL magazine.
